Creative Play

Let your children’s lessons take the form of play
Plato Republic bk. 7

Play is developmental scaffolding. Its biological function is to help assemble the adult
Professor Patrick Bateson, Provost of King’s College, Cambridge, Design for Life 1999.

Creative play is the work of the child. Our aim is to nurture the vital imaginative life of each child, by giving them the space and time to enjoy playing freely and creatively every day. The children play using simple materials, which give full scope to their inventiveness. Wooden play stands and boxes become pirate ships, fairy castles, shops and homes. Acorns, fir cones, conkers, feathers become treasure, money, ingredients for cooking, transformed by the children’s imagination. Here the children learn the art of negotiation, assertiveness, sharing and diplomacy.
